Firefighter death
It was a "freakish weather event" that killed a volunteer firefighter on Sunday, according to the New South Wales °í¾ßµå°¡¹æ=°í¾ßµå°¡¹æ
Rural Fire Service (RFS).

Powerful winds near the New South Wales-Victoria border lifted his 10-tonne truck off the ground and flipped it over, the service said.

Samuel McPaul, 28, was a newlywed who was expecting his first child.

Earlier in December, two volunteer firefighters died while battling a blaze near Sydney.

"To lose one of our »þ³Ú¿©ÀÚÁö°©=»þ³Ú¿©ÀÚÁö°©
own in such extraordinary circumstances is just tragic," said RFS Commissioner Shane Fitzsimmons of the latest death.

Mr McPaul died at the scene, while ½Å¹ß·¹Çø®Ä«»çÀÌÆ®=½Å¹ß·¹Çø®Ä«»çÀÌÆ®
the driver received minor burns and a third person suffered more serious burns.

Temperatures exceeded 40C (104F) in every state at the start of the week, with strong winds and lightning strikes bolstering the flames.

The man suspected of stabbing five people at a rabbi's house in New York state on Saturday kept journals which included »ì±Õ³Ã¿ÂÁ¤¼ö±â·»Å»=ûȣ³ªÀ̽º »ì±Õ ³Ã¿ÂÁ¤¼ö±â·»Å» ¼¼´ÏŸ ÈÀÌÆ®ÂøÇѰ÷

Federal prosecutors have filed hate crime charges against Grafton Thomas over the attack.

The filing says his journals included drawings of the Star of David.

His internet search history À§ºí·Î=À§ºí·Î¿©¼ºÀÇ·ù
also included questions such as "why did Hitler hate the Jews", it said.

Grafton Thomas's attorney pointed to his client's history of mental health problems, and said there is no evidence the attack was driven by anti-Semitism.

The criminal complaint said agents recovered journals from the suspect's home in Greenwood Lake, New York, including comments ·¹Çø®Ä«sa=·¹Çø®Ä«¹Ì·¯±Þ ·¹Çø®Ä«sa±Þ ·¹Çø®Ä«¼îÇÎ
such as "why [people] mourned for anti-Semitism when there is Semitic genocide".

It says the 37-year-old also used his phone to search for "why did Hitler hate the Jews" on four occasions.

"German Jewish Temples near me" and "prominent companies founded by Jews in America" were also searched, along with other references to "Nazi culture" and swastikas. On Saturday, Grafton Thomas accessed an article about an increase in police presence in New York after possible anti-Semitic attacks.

He is expected to appear in federal court on ¸íǰst=¸íǰst
