Thousands of people have fled À̹ÌÅ×À̼ǹ̷¯±Þ=À̹ÌÅ×À̼ǹ̷¯±Þ
into the water at a beachside town in Australia to seek shelter from a massive bushfire bearing down on the area.

Residents said the blaze moved into the ·¹Çø®Ä«½Ã°è»çÀÌÆ®=·¹Çø®Ä«½Ã°è»çÀÌÆ®
Victorian town of Mallacoota on Tuesday morning, throwing embers towards homes.

Online, people reported the "roar" of the fire and posted pictures of a black and then deep-red sky.

Several popular holiday spots along the coast ¸íÇ°ÈĵåƼ=¸íÇ°ÈĵåƼ
between Sydney and Melbourne are currently under threat from bushfires.

The most serious "emergency-level" blazes span a 500km (310 miles) stretch from Batemans Bay in New South Wales (NSW) to Bairnsdale in Victoria.

Residents in several NSW beachside ·¹Çø®Ä«½Å¹ß=·¹Çø®Ä«³²¼º½Å¹ß ·¹Çø®Ä«¿©¼º½Å¹ß ·¹Çø®Ä«³²¼º½Ã°è
communities, including Bermagui and Batemans Bay, have also been evacuated to the water.

Authorities had told people in these ·¹Çø®Ä«¼îÇθô=À̹ÌÅ×À̼ǼîÇÎ ·¹Çø®Ä«¼îÇθô ·¹Çø®Ä«
regions - many of them tourists - to stay put because it was too late and dangerous to evacuate.

The major road in the region - the Princes Highway - has been closed off.

Marginal offsides are causing particular consternation, with Sheffield United boss Chris Wilder saying VAR was "not ¸íÇ°·¹Çø®Ä«Ãßõ=¸íÇ°·¹Çø®Ä«Ãßõ
helping the game".

Some fans have been singing "it's not football any more" at matches.

Another former Premier League official, Dermot Gallagher, told BBC Radio 5 Live the recent examples had shown "how tight the ½ºÅæ¾ÆÀÏ·£µå=½ºÅæ¾ÆÀÏ·£µå¿©¼ºÀÇ·ù
margins are".

"The technology will get better and the operatives will get better. We've got to allow it a bit of wriggle room. It was never going to be perfect," he said.

"It's frustrating. I think people will get ¿©ÀÚ·¹Çø®Ä«»çÀÌÆ®=¿©ÀÚ·¹Çø®Ä«»çÀÌÆ®
more used to it, people will tinker with the product a little bit and say, 'If we do this it will make it better', and I think it's a combination and with that right combination we will eventually get the right cocktail."

Wolves and Sheffield United all had goals chalked off for offside via VAR at the weekend, with the Blades now having had five goals ruled out for offside - the most of any Premier League team.

They have had a total of seven VAR decisions ·¹Çø®Ä«°¡¹æ=·¹Çø®Ä«¿©¼º°¡¹æ ·¹Çø®Ä«³²¼ºÁö°© ·¹Çø®Ä«¿©¼ºÁö°©
go against them, more than any other top-flight team.

Halsey said: "We've seen 21 or 22 goals ruled out through offside, but some of them have got to be given as goals because fans are paying a lot of money to watch.

the Blades now having had five goals ruled out for offside - the most of any Premier League team.

They have had a total of seven VAR decisions go against them, more than any other top-flight team.

Halsey said: "We've seen 21 or 22 goals ruled out through offside, but some of them have got to be given as goals because fans È«Äá¸íÇ°Áö°©=È«Äá¸íÇ°Áö°©
are paying a lot of money to watch.

"We don't want to see them ruled out for a toenail or hair. They are goals, and if it's taking so long to judge then you go ¿©ÀÚ·¹Çø®Ä«»çÀÌÆ®=¿©ÀÚ·¹Çø®Ä«»çÀÌÆ®
with the on-field referee.

"We know technology isn't 100%, so where are they drawing these lines? They've been consistent, but it doesn't make it right."

Wolves had two VAR decisions ·¹Çø®Ä«½Ã°è=·¹Çø®Ä«½Ã°è
go against them in their 1-0 defeat by Liverpool on Sunday, when VAR ruled that the league leaders' goal should stand and when they also had Neto's equaliser ruled out for a marginal offside.

Captain Conor Coady said the system À̹ÌÅ×À̼ǿ©¼º½Å¹ß=À̹ÌÅ×À̼ǿ©¼º½Å¹ß À̹ÌÅ×À̼dz²¼º½Ã°è À̹ÌÅ×À̼ǿ©¼º½Ã°è
was "not working" and was "confusing" for players, while Manchester City boss Pep Guardiola said VAR was "a big mess", despite Sheffield United being disadvantaged against his side.

Guardiola said: "Hopefully next season it can do better."

Wilder added: "Yet again we had another goal disallowed by VAR. That's about eight or nine over the weekend, this is not a situation helping the game."

What did his lawyer say?
Michael Sussman, Thomas's lawyer, told ³²ÀÚ·¹ÇÃ=³²ÀÚ·¹ÇÃ
a press conference on Monday that he had requested a full mental health evaluation.

"We were able this morning to... review scores of papers which frankly show the ramblings of a disturbed individual, but there is no ÁÖ¼¼ÆäÀÚ³ëƼ=ÁÖ¼¼ÆäÀÚ³ëƼ¿©¼ºÀÇ·ù
suggestion in any of those ramblings... of an anti-Semitic motive," he told reporters.

How did the attack unfold?
A man brandishing a machete on Saturday attacked a Hanukkah celebration at the rabbi's property in Monsey - an area with a large ³²ÀÚ·¹Çø®Ä«»çÀÌÆ®=³²ÀÚ·¹Çø®Ä«»çÀÌÆ®
population of ultra-Orthodox Jews.

Rabbi Yisroel Kahan, who was in the house at the time, described the moment the attack began.

"He pushed his way in, slammed the door shut and said 'none of you getting out of here' - something to that effect, nobody's leaving - and ¸íÇ°À̹ÌÅ×À̼ÇÀÏ´ëÀÏ=À̹ÌÅ×À̼ǼîÇÎ À̹ÌÅ×À̼ÇÄ¿½ºÅÒ±Þ À̹ÌÅ×À̼ÇÀÏ´ëÀÏ
pulls out a machete and unsheathes it and starts doing the unthinkable," he said.

Thomas was detained soon after and charged with attempted murder. He pleaded not guilty, and is being held in jail with his bail set at $5m (¡Ì3.8m).

State Governor Andrew Cuomo À̹ÌÅ×À̼dz²¼ºÀÇ·ù=À̹ÌÅ×À̼dz²¼ºÀÇ·ù À̹ÌÅ×À̼ǿ©¼ºÀÇ·ù À̹ÌÅ×À̼dz²¼º°¡¹æ
described the attack as "domestic terrorism", while President Donald Trump said the attack was "horrific".

"We must all come together to fight, confront and eradicate the evil scourge of anti-Semitism," the president said.

The New England Patriots will play in the wild card play-off round for the first time in 10 seasons after a shock loss ·¹Çø®Ä«Áö°©=·¹Çø®Ä«Áö°©
to the Miami Dolphins in the last week of the NFL regular season.

Victory for the Super Bowl champions would have secured a bye to the second round of the play-offs as second seeds.

Instead they host the Tennessee ·¹Çø®Ä«»çÀÌÆ®=·¹Çø®Ä«»çÀÌÆ®
Titans on 5 January.

"We didn't play the way we're capable of playing and it ended up costing us," Patriots quarterback Tom Brady said.

"Just too many bad mistakes. It was a great chance for us to not play next week, and we didn't take advantage it," added the 42-year-old who is playing in his 20th season with the Patriots and will become a free agent at the end of the campaign.

A five-yard pass from quarterback Ryan Fitzpatrick in the dying seconds snatched the 27-24 at home win for the Dolphins, who were big underdogs going into the game.

The Patriots' poor run in the second ³²ÀÚ¸íÇ°·¹Çø®Ä«=³²ÀÚ¸íÇ°·¹Çø®Ä«
half of the season, which saw them lose four games out of eight, means they miss out on a bye week, falling behind the Kansas City Chiefs and the Baltimore Ravens in the AFC, who both won on Sunday.

Since the Wild Card System began in ¹ÙµðÇÁ·£µåÁ¤¼ö±â·»Å»=¹ÙµðÇÁ·£µå W³Ã¿ÂÁ¤¼ö±â·»Å» ·¹Æ®·Î ·¹Æ®·Î±×¸°ÃÖ°í
1970, only 10 wild card teams have advanced all the way to the Super Bowl. Of those, six won the Super Bowl.

Elsewhere, the play-off schedule was confirmed in Sunday's late game as the San Francisco 49ers secured the number one seed ¸íÇ°À̹ÌÅ×À̼ǽðè=À̹ÌÅ×ÀÌ¼Ç À̹ÌÅ×À̼ǽðè À̹ÌÅ×À̼ǹ̷¯±Þ
in the NFC with a 26-21 victory at divisional rivals the Seattle Seahawks.

Iraqi Prime Minister Adel Abdel ³²ÀÚ·¹Çø®Ä«»çÀÌÆ®=³²ÀÚ·¹Çø®Ä«»çÀÌÆ®
Mahdi has condemned the US air strikes which killed at least 25 members of an Iranian-backed Iraqi militia.

Mr Mahdi said the US action on À̹ÌÅ×À̼ǼîÇθô=À̹ÌÅ×À̼ǼîÇθô
Sunday had violated Iraq's sovereignty.

The prime minister appeared to suggest È«Äá¸íÇ°³²¼º½Å¹ß=È«Äá¸íÇ°¿©¼ºÁö°© È«Äá¸íÇ°³²¼º½Å¹ß È«Äá¸íÇ°¿©¼º½Å¹ß
that Iraq would now have to review its relationship with the US.

US forces targeted the Kataib Hezbollah militia in retaliation for attacks on bases in Iraq that are used by the US military.

The Americans have fought for ¾Ë¸¯½º=¾Ë¸¯½º¿©¼ºÀÇ·ù
years alongside Iraqi government forces in their confrontation with the Islamic State (IS) group

"The prime minister described the American attack on the Iraqi armed forces as an unacceptable vicious assault that will have dangerous consequences," his office said.

Mr Mahdi said he tried to inform militia members of the impending air strike against them.

"American forces acted on their political ¸íÇ°·¹Çø®Ä«Ãßõ=¸íÇ°·¹Çø®Ä«Ãßõ
priorities, not those of the Iraqis," a statement said, adding that such strikes "violate the sovereignty of Iraq".

The attacks "force Iraq to review its relations and its security, political and legal framework to protect its sovereignty", the government added.

The US ambassador in Baghdad would also be summoned to discuss the matter, the Iraqi ministry of foreign affairs tweeted.

"We also stress that Iraq is an independent country, that its internal security is a priority... and it will not be allowed to be a battlefield, a passage to carry out attacks, or a place [to be used] to harm neighbouring countries," it added.

How much did illness play a part?
There was no doubt that ·¹Çø®Ä«¿©¼ºÀÇ·ù=·¹Çø®Ä«¿©¼ºÀÇ·ù
this was the most chaotic build-up to a Test that I have known. It was unsettling and unsatisfactory for England.

There was illness to the squad and to those outside the squad, and then players became ill during the game. They had players in ¾ÆÄí¾Æ Æ÷Ƽ ¸Æ½º ´ë¿ë·®=Á¦ÀϾÆÄí¾Æ Æ÷Ƽ ¸Æ½º ´ë¿ë·® ³Ã¿ÂÁ¤¼ö±â·»Å»ÈǸ¢ÇØ
different rooms and in different dressing rooms to try and isolate the illness where they could, but they have not been able to get rid of this bug.

Captain Joe Root said the illness ·¹Çø®Ä«½Ã°è»çÀÌÆ®=·¹Çø®Ä«½Ã°è»çÀÌÆ®
was not an excuse for the defeat - and he is right - but I cannot think of anything that comes even remotely close to what this preparation has been like.

Seamers Stuart Broad ÀÎÅÍÆÄÅ©ºñÁÄÏ ÇÑ¿ì¹°=ÀÎÅÍÆÄÅ©ºñÁÄÏ ÇÑ¿ì¹° Á÷¼öÇü ¹Ì´Ï Á¤¼ö±â·»Å» HAN-EP5001 / ·¹µå½ºÄ«À̺í·çÇÕ¸®ÀûÀΰ÷
and Jofra Archer had been in bed for the best part of a week before the Test with the bug, which made Root's decision to bowl first after winning the toss even more surprising.

I did not think at the time that it was the È«Äá¸íÇ°¼îÇθô=È«Äá¸íÇ°¼îÇθô È«Äá¸íÇ° È«Äá¸íÇ°½Ã°è
right decision to put South Africa in - and I still say that. There was some flawed thinking there.

Who are England's best three seamers?
England at least managed to ·¹Çø®Ä«Áö°©=·¹Çø®Ä«Áö°©
take 20 wickets for the first time in three matches this winter.

To do so, I still think their best chance CP company=CP company¿©¼ºÀÇ·ù
will be a pace attack of James Anderson, Broad and Archer - despite Sam Curran's impressive 4-58 in the first innings this week.

England are protecting one or two players at the moment. All-rounder Ben Stokes does not bowl much these days - maybe a spell or ÆĶóÁ¡ÆÛ½º=ÆĶóÁ¡ÆÛ½º¿©¼ºÀÇ·ù
two here and there - because of his knee, so Anderson, Broad and Archer are especially important.

Anderson, England's all-time leading wicket-taker, needed a run-out in Centurion after four months out with a calf injury, but England will Á÷¼ö³Ã¿ÂÁ¤¼ö±â·»Å»=Çö´ëÅ¥¹Ö Å¥¹Ö ´õ ½½¸² ¸®´º¾ó Á÷¼ö³Ã¿ÂÁ¤¼ö±â·»Å»ÂøÇÑ°÷
also have to look at the lengths they bowled.

I do not think bowling bouncers with three men on the leg-side boundary - as they resorted to at Supersport Park - is the way to go.

Archer took 5-102 in the second innings ·¹Çø®Ä«½Å¹ß=·¹Çø®Ä«½Å¹ß
but was expensive, conceding six runs an over. After an impressive start to his Test career in the Ashes this summer, England have not found the best use of him yet.

I would use Archer, England's quickest bowler, as a spearhead. If England are going to play five seamers as they did in this match, they can use Archer in bursts of three or four overs, so he can come back and bowl in an hour's time.

Spare him the long spells. Other bowlers can do that.

For England to fight back in this series against South Africa, it is simple - they need to do virtually everything ³²¼º·¹Çø®Ä«=³²¼º·¹Çø®Ä«
a bit better.

Their preparation for the first Test was chaotic and, although mistakes were made during the 107-run defeat in Centurion, England ·¹Çø®Ä«¼îÇÎ ·¹Çø®Ä«Ä¿½ºÅÒ±Þ ·¹Çø®Ä«ÀÏ´ëÀÏ=·¹Çø®Ä«¼îÇÎ ·¹Çø®Ä«Ä¿½ºÅÒ±Þ ·¹Çø®Ä«ÀÏ´ëÀÏ
showed a lot of spirit on the fourth day.

They did not roll over. They did ³²ÀÚ·¹Çø®Ä«»çÀÌÆ®=³²ÀÚ·¹Çø®Ä«»çÀÌÆ®
not hand victory to South Africa on a plate. They deserve a lot of credit for the way they fought, when all common sense was that they were going to lose.

Targets such as the 376 that ¿©ÀÚ·¹Çø®Ä«=¿©ÀÚ·¹Çø®Ä«
England were chasing in the fourth innings are not made for a very good reason. To score 268 was a good effort.

It was not a nice pitch and England got some vicious balls. And if they had chased that down, on that pitch, South Africa's players would have gone away and resigned.

But, while there are positive ¾Æ¹Ì¸£=¾Æ¹Ì¸£¿©¼ºÀÇ·ù
signs for England to take out of the match, there are questions that must be answered.

Are anti-Semitic attacks on the rise in the US?
On Friday, New York city Å©¸®½ºÂù·çºÎÅÞ=Å©¸®½ºÂù·çºÎÅÞ¿©¼ºÀÇ·ù
police's hate crimes unit said it was investigating eight anti-Semitic incidents reported since 13 December.

They included a threat by a ³²¼º·¹Çø®Ä«=³²¼º·¹Çø®Ä«
man who walked into an Orthodox Jewish community organisation's headquarters in Brooklyn and threatened to shoot someone. In another incident a 30-year-old È«Äá¸íÇ°³²¼º°¡¹æ=È«Äá¸íÇ°³²¼º°¡¹æ È«Äá¸íÇ°¿©¼º°¡¹æ È«Äá¸íÇ°³²¼ºÁö°©
woman reportedly slapped three women in the face.

New York Police Department commissioner Dermot Shea has said hate crimes in New York City are up 22% this year.

"You see a swastika ·¹Çø®Ä«½Å¹ß=·¹Çø®Ä«½Å¹ß
being drawn, you see a brick being thrown through a window, you see a woman walking down the street with her kids and having her wig ripped off," he said.

In April a gunman killed a female rabbi and wounded three people at a synagogue in San Diego.

That attack came exactly six months after ³²ÀÚ·¹Çø®Ä«»çÀÌÆ®=³²ÀÚ·¹Çø®Ä«»çÀÌÆ®
the deadliest anti-Semitic attack in US history, when a gunman killed 11 worshippers at the Tree of Life synagogue in Pittsburgh.
